Dominion counts on profit-sharing to woo, keep executive directors

Dominion Senior Living is adapting Chick-fil-A’s employment approach to senior living, banking on the belief that executive directors who “own” the experience at their communities will enjoy their work more and stay with the company.
The Knoxville, TN-based company will launch its Principal, Role Model program Sept. 1, changing the title of participating executive directors to principal and giving them the opportunity to share in a community’s profits if they meet goals tied to occupancy and other key indicators.

Dominion Senior Living has named Michael Holtzclaw its new senior director of operations.
Holtzclaw brings more than 15 years of senior living experience to the company, which owns and operates faith-based assisted living and memory care communities.
He joined the Navy right out of high school and served for 13 years. Following his return from Naples, Italy, he started working for a friend at a senior living community in South Carolina. He planned to spend 90 days in that position but said he ended up staying because of his connection to the residents.

A new assisted living community is opening in Clemson and expected to bring new jobs to the area.
Crews broke ground on the $10 million Dominion Senior Living on Pershing Avenue, which is set to include 49 assisted living apartments and 17 apartments for memory care residents.
The facility is expected to open in fall 2018 and create approximately 50 jobs.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – City officials and business leaders were on hand Friday when Dominion Senior Living of Bristol opened its $5.25 million assisted living community at 425 Shelby Lane in Bristol, Tennessee.
The 25,000-square-foot, 40-unit facility, is a holistic, memory care community that can house as many as 60 residents. It features a large courtyard with picnic areas, games and sensory gardens designed to engage residents living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

Transforming Age, a nonprofit that owns and operates 11 senior living communities in Washington and Minnesota, is planning some big upgrades for Parkshore, one of its properties in Seattle.
The $30 million renovation project includes an aerobics room, green roof, social dining space, and a partially open pool connecting an indoor pool to the outside, according to a press release.

Knoxville, Tennessee-based Dominion Senior Living recently announced its plans for a $10 million faith-based community in Clemson, South Carolina, its second in the state.
Dominion Senior Living at Patrick Square will come with 49 assisted living apartments and 17 apartments designed for memory care, a press release reads. Amenities include enclosed courtyards for residents, a landscaped garden, covered porches and a salon/barber shop. Dominion is scheduled to open the community in the fall of 2018.

Dominion Senior Living will have two-stories with 49 assisted living apartments and 17 apartments designed specifically for memory care. Features include enclosed courtyards, a salon and barber shop and a landscaped garden. It is walking distance to retail areas near the Town Center.

Construction begins on new $9.5 million senior living community

Construction is underway on a 44,000-square-foot, $9.5 million senior living community, Dominion Senior Living of Anderson.
Located at 3461 N. Hwy. 81, the community will include assisted living and memory care. It’s set to open in the summer of 2018, and will employ about 50 people.
The community will have technological integration, on-site enrichment activities, and nurses and professionally trained caregivers, who are available 24 hours a day.

Ground was broken Friday on Dominion Senior Living center, a faith-based personal care home expected to open late next year.
The 44,000-square-foot, $8 million senior living community planned for 122 Leonardwood Drive will include 60 apartments for up to 84 residents and offer assisted living and memory care. The company says 50 jobs will be created.
The facility should be open in December 2017.
